Teeth Whitening

Blue light teeth whitening technology harnesses the energy of blue light to kill bacteria and the teeth whitening properties of Carbamide peroxide to produce visibly whiter teeth in just one treatment.

Hydrogen peroxide has been used in teeth whitening toothpaste and in home teeth whitening kits in Australia for many years but the discovery of blue light technology when combined with Carbomide peroxide has revolutionized the teeth whitening industry and brought cost effective teeth whitening within the reach of every Australian.

The process is simple, fast, safe and effective and 95% of people see a dramatic improvement in the whiteness of their teeth after just one treatment.

Ask your therapist to assess whether you will be suitable for treatment and to explain in full how the process works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is TeethWhitening?
It is a bleaching process utilising cold blue light technologies and hydrogen peroxide solutions that lightens discolouration of tooth enamel and dentine.

Q: What causes tooth dis-colouration?
There are many causes. These include aging and lifestyle, the consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, tobacco and red wine. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discolouration.

Q: Who can benefit from tooth whitening?
Almost everyone. However, treatment may not be as effective for some clients; genetics play a big role in the end result, it is impossible to whiten teeth beyond your genetic disposition.

Q: How long will it last?
Your whitened smile can last up to a 1 year, but this will depend on the patient's lifestyle and oral hygiene habits.

Q: Are my teeth more easily stained after whitening?
For the first 48 hours, it is important NOT to eat foods which can stain your teeth. After this initial period the chance of staining your teeth is not increased following whitening.

Q: What about my teeth with fillings and crowns?
Although the teeth around the fillings will lighten, the fillings themselves and crowns will not whiten to the same extent. Some whitening of tooth-coloured restorations may occur but ceramic fillings and crowns will not change in colour. Any tooth-coloured restorations on your front teeth will need to be replaced after the whitening procedure.

Q: Do I need my teeth cleaned before the procedure?
Yes it is always advisable to freshly clean your teeth before and after your treatment.

Q: How safe is Teeth Whitening?
Clinical studies have shown that bleaching with hydrogen peroxide is 100% safe. Be careful that gel does not touch gums, lips or inside of mouth as it can burn those areas.

Q: Are there any side effects?
Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. The used light generates almost no heat; heat is the usual source of discomfort. Occasionally, minor tingling sensations are experienced immediately after the procedure, but always resolved, usually within a few hours. We recommend taking Nurofen or Panadol after the whitening procedure to assure your total comfort. Teeth Whitening is 100% safe and incredibly fast. You won't believe the end result and neither will your family and friends!
